Improve, fix, or take over an app that already has users.
Not every project starts from zero. If your app is live but slow, crashing, tied to a service that is being shut down, or waiting on features nobody has time to build, I start with a short review of the codebase, then agree a scoped plan before anything touches production. That is the work behind IMOX and YOLO: a cold start cut from ~6 s to under 1.5 s, a deep-link migration finished ahead of a shutdown, and an install 41% smaller.
Pricing
Priced per project
fixed price after a short review of the codebase
Is this you?
- Your app works, but it's slow to open, heavy to download, or crashes more than it should.
- A service it depends on is deprecated or shutting down, and the migration can't break what users already have.
- The original developer has moved on, and you need someone to take over the codebase.
- You have a backlog of features and no one senior enough to ship them safely.
What you get
- A short written review: what's slowing you down, what's risky, and what to fix first
- Performance work measured before and after — start-up time, app size, loading
- Migrations off deprecated SDKs and services, with no gap for existing users
- New features built into the existing architecture, not bolted on
- Analytics and crash reporting, so problems show up in data rather than in reviews
- A record of what changed and why
How I build it
- Measure first: every performance change starts from a number and ends with one.
- Targeted changes over rewrites, so the app keeps its users and its release cadence while it improves.
- Every change ships through a normal store or production release, with separate environments, so nothing is tested on live users.
- Where the backend belongs to another team, gaps are filed as contract issues rather than patched around in the client.
What this looks like in practice
- IMOXa reels app's cold start cut from ~6 s to under 1.5 s by redesigning what loads at launch, not the video pipeline.
- IMOXdeep links moved off Firebase Dynamic Links to Airbridge before the shutdown, with deferred links and attribution intact.
- YOLOinstall size cut 41%, from 86 MB to 51 MB, and 10+ client-requested features shipped on a live clinic app.
- Taliadozens of screens moved from mock data to a live Go/REST backend, each one verified against the deployed environment.

How a project runs
Intro call
A free call. You describe the product and what's blocking you; I tell you honestly whether and how I can help.
Written proposal
Scope, price, timeline and payment phases — all in writing before any code is written. You approve it, then we start.
Milestone delivery
You get working, testable software at every milestone, not a status update.
Handoff
Deployment, documentation and a codebase the next engineer can maintain. The code is yours.
Questions about this service
Can you take over an app someone else built?
Yes. Much of my employed work has been on products that already had users — cutting YOLO's app size from 86 MB to 51 MB, migrating IMOX's deep linking and analytics — so inheriting a codebase is normal. We start with a short review, then agree a scoped plan before anything touches production.
My app is slow. Where do you start?
With measurements: start-up time, download size, and the screens users actually wait on. On IMOX the problem wasn't the video pipeline — the app loaded too much before showing anything; priming two reels instead of a feed took cold start from ~6 s to under 1.5 s. The fix follows the number, not a guess.
Do I need to rebuild my app from scratch?
Usually not. A rewrite resets your bugs, your users' trust and your timeline at once. The review says whether targeted fixes will get you there — and if a rewrite really is cheaper, it says that too, with the reasons.
How is this priced?
Per project, after the review: a fixed price for an agreed scope, in writing, before any work starts. Ongoing maintenance after that is optional and agreed separately.
Ready to scope it?
Tell me what you're building — in plain words, no technical brief needed — or book a free call. You'll get an honest answer and, if it fits, a written proposal with the price and timeline.
